Peace on Earth -- U.S. Peace Silver Dollar, BU
This magnificent U.S. Mint 1921-1935 silver dollar was introduced after World War I to commemorate Peace, which is inscribed on the reverse. It proved to be the last silver dollar type struck for American commerce. The ardent Liberty personification was partly inspired by the Statue of Liberty, which had awed the coin’s designer, Italian immigrant Anthony DeFrancisci, when he entered America (his wife Teresa served as model). Liberty’s spired crown is echoed on the reverse by the rays of a new dawn of Peace, as a vigilant Eagle protects American freedoms. Our hand-selected Brilliant Uncirculated specimens flash with original luster as you turn the coins in your hand — and they show absolutely no trace of wear. Our choice of date. Perfect holiday gift!
